LayerZero Labs introduced Aerie, a research system that aggregated 32,768 quantum-resistant Falcon-512 signatures into one proof in 0.65 seconds on an Apple M4 Max, using 16 worker threads and 2.1 GiB peak memory. Contributors included researchers from LayerZero, a16z crypto research, Carnegie Mellon University and Imperial College London; Aerie builds on the Akita proof system. The paper addresses proof-of-stake networks, where validators sign state messages that others must verify. Ethereum combines roughly 32,000 validator votes using BLS, which is vulnerable to quantum attacks; selected post-quantum alternatives lack built-in aggregation.
