The Bank of Russia authorized Sberbank, Russia’s largest lender, to exchange digital currencies in its own name and with its own funds, six days after adding it to the register of digital depositories. The approvals allow it to trade with clients and record their coin holdings without an outside venue; the exchange approval was posted on the regulator’s website, Interfax reported. Sberbank plans to offer Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tether’s USDT through SberBank Online, SberInvestments and SberBusiness starting December 1.
